Woodley residents have donated £7,532.19, an 18% increase from last year, for the Christian Aid Collection held annually in May.  Irene Parker, the Woodley Christian Aid Co-ordinator has been collecting for Christian Aid since 1999 and is overwhelmed at the extreme generosity of Woodley residents.  She said, “Thank you to all of those who generously donated.  It is extremely encouraging in this economic climate to have had such a significant increase in giving.”

A total of 122 collectors from five churches in Woodley (St James’ Church Centre, St Johns CofE, St John Bosco, Christchurch and the Airfield Church) and members of the FISH youth group collected the money door to door.  The money will be used in Kenya for sanitation units and emergency relief.

For more information please contact Irene Parker on 0118 932 0977 or Sharon Elliott on 07843 091950.
