Volunteering

Volunteers are the lifeblood of all the projects. Volunteering provides people with an opportunity to use their skills for the benefit of the community and to gain new skills and real satisfaction from their contribution. If you would like to help on any of the projects please register as a member and as part of the registration process you will be asked what key skills you can offer. Please also state as you register that you are prepared to volunteer and we will be in touch with you to discuss the options available.

If you are interested in other volunteering opportunities locally, please contact Wokingham Volunteer Centre.

Prospects Charity Store Volunteer Positions

Prospects is a national Christian Charity working with Learning Disability. We are opening our first Charity Store in West Reading, in mid-July, and are currently looking to build a team of volunteers to help build this exciting new project. Volunteers will be responsible for tasks on the shop floor such as welcoming customers and serving on the till, as well as tasks in the back-room such as sorting through donations and pricing items. If preferred, volunteers may choose to work in the back-room only. Experience is not necessary; we are looking for people who are willing to work hard, as a part of a team, and to have lots of fun along the way.

If you feel able to offer a morning, or an afternoon or two each week, or if you wish to find out more, please contact the store manager, Claire John on 07803 623 361 to discuss further, or email clairej@prospects.org.uk.

The Link Banner

The Link Visiting Scheme is a registered charity established in order to combat social isolation in the Wokingham Borough. We work primarily but not exclusively amongst the elderly. Through a network of over 130 wonderful volunteers we provide friendship and social opportunities to those who are feeling lonely. We also provide basic computer training, believing that this can provide a useful window into the world, and regular 'Pie and Pint Clubs for (mainly) isolated older men
locally.
We are always in need of willing volunteers who can either visit older people in their own homes on a weekly or fortnightly basis as well as opportunities to assist in other events and regular activities.

If you think you may be able to assist, please contact Marjie Walker at The Link Visiting Scheme on 0118 979 8019 or go to www.linkvisiting.org

Volunteers needed to help us share our Good News!

Every month, Xn strives to bring the Thames Valley an inspiring and encouraging mix of news, features and information.

We need your help to get the magazine into the community. If you could spare a couple of hours once a month to help us deliver copies to a cluster of churches, it will help us - we can tell even more good news stories.

Think you could help? Get in touch with us today! For details, email judith@xnmedia.co.uk
