Work in secondary Schools 

Yvette Edwards is employed as the Schools Christian Worker, by the Wokingham Area Schools Christian Worker Trust (WASCWT), a charity sponsored by 12 local churches.  Our  vision statement for the work is to:

“Connect the heart of God's Church with the school community through the development of mutual trust and respect"  

Our aim is to fulfil the vision by being both a support and free resource to staff and pupils in local secondary schools. The schools work involves a whole range of activities which include:  taking lessons on various topics, taking school assemblies, running Christian Unions, helping with both residentials and day school trips, taking part in fair Trade events, supporting staff with tea, coffee and cakes during one morning break each week, pupil mentoring, and lunchtime clubs.

This weeks blog:-)

We always start the academic year by running a Welcome Week Club, for the new Y7s, at Emmbrook School.  This year we will also be running the club at St.Cripin's and the Holt School.  That means we will be running three clubs a day for the first week of term.  Debbie Harris, from St.Sebastians Church and Scott Harris, from the Rose Street Methodist Centre, will be helping with the clubs for that week.  Please do pray that the young people will be encouraged with friendship and fun as they meet with their friends and make new friends during their first week at school.
